Essential oils for broken bones
When there is a skeletal injury, the use of essential oils can accelerate the healing process and recovery time. For example in the case of a broken bone, oils such as wintergreen and birch have been demonstrated to be useful in relieving and resolving inflammatory conditions and supporting injury recovery.
Essential oils for healing connective tissue
Additionally, lemongrass essential oil supports the healing of any connective tissue damage. The body's skeletal structure comprises the framework upon which all other organs and tissues depend upon for proper placement and coordination. Bones are alive, and they need blood and oxygen to metabolize nutrients and produce waste. They respond to external stresses by changing shape to accommodate new demands.
The skeleton is often referred to as the trunk. It accounts for about 20% of the body's weight. The backbone, also called the spine or vertebral column, is made up of 24 move-able bone segments called vertebrae. Each vertebra is stacked upon another and separated and cushioned by inter-vertebral discs held in place by tendons and cartilage. A nerve network enables communication between the brain, muscles and organs of the body.
The skeleton provides structure and protects the softer body parts. Ligaments connect bones to each other and help stabilize and move joints, when ligaments are injured, healing can take ninety days and up to nine months for the fibers to regain their maximum strength.
The skeletal system is in constant use and it also undergoes perpetual repair and rejuvenation. It is therefore vulnerable to imbalance and disease. The joints in particular are susceptible to damage due to constant friction, impact, and leverage. As we grow older, we may also experience challenges stemming from calcium or other mineral deficiencies-calcium being the primary material of which bones are made of.
pH Balance and Acidic vs Alkaline
PH balance in the body supports a strong skeletal structure. When pH balance is off and the body is too acidic, the blood is compelled to take minerals from the bones and organs, which can cause disease and depletion in the skeletal system. Sugar, refined and processed foods, and over consumption of meat and dairy can make the body more acidic throwing off the pH balance. Certain essential oils like dill, lemon, fennel, or lemongrass can help reduce acidity by creating a more alkaline environment. Maintaining an alkaline environment helps promote healing.
Vitamins and Minerals maintain pH and support a healthy back
Adequate nourishment with bioavailable vitamins, minerals and trace minerals help to maintain a proper pH balance in the blood. Adequate high-quality supplementation will manage chronic inflammation and a topical use of anti-inflammatory essential oils will help support joint health. Frankincense is an excellent anti-inflammatory essential oil.
